Marta completed her PhD at UCL where she investigated an unusual two-component signalling pathway. She went on to work on twin arginine translocation system at the University of Oxford, and then ferredoxin uptake system in the plant pathogen Pectobacterium at the University of Glasgow. Prior to joining the O'Hagan group she spent a year at the University of St Andrews structurally characterising streptococcal M protein and its interaction with collagen.
