Nicolas Charalambous

Nicolas completed his undergraduate degree at the University of St Andrews in 2020. For his final year project, he joined the group of Prof. Rebecca Goss where he worked on developing a new detection method of halogenated natural product analogues, utilising the Suzuki reaction and a novel fluorescent tag.

Following an appointment at the German Oncology Centre in his native Cyprus, he developed a keen interest in Positron Emission Tomography and radiopharmaceutical chemistry. His graduate project focuses on the development of novel [18F]fluorinated A2A adenosine receptor agonists with applications in PET imaging.

Outside the lab, Nicolas can be found exploring the Highlands or travelling in search of new cuisine when the opportunity arises. He is also a tennis fanatic.
