Tommy graduated from the the University of St Andrews in 2020 with an MChem degree. During his program he worked on a summer research project with Prof. Andy Smith synthesizing and researching atropisomerism in some amines. He then completed his masters project investigating hydrodefluorination with Prof. Matt Clarke before starting his PhD under the supervision of Prof. David O’Hagan. His EaSI-CAT PhD is focussed on the generation of fluorocyclohexanes and their usage as facially polarized building blocks organizationed into supramolecular materials. When not in the lab Tommy is a long time member of the Ultimate Frisbee team competing in the BUCS league and annual championship, He also enjoys traveling, reading and of course the beautiful outdoors found just a short walk from the Purdie Building.
